For Sale.............

My 10yo has been having lessons with a level 2 instructor and her riding has come along in leaps and bounds. Unfortunatly for Nelson her legs have too. She has a solid seat at the canter and is now happy to canter. It is quite clear that it would be a waste of time putting more work into Nelson when I can see her foot under his tummy already. She is now as tall as me but with longer legs! I am now looking for a new home for Nelsie. Other daughter is quite happy with her pony so we can't shift her up. That means I am effectivley back to square one and am on the hunt for a galloway.

This is is me

Today we went to a show with the ponys. We did pretty well. I got 2 thirds and 2 firsts! My mum rode too and worked his little (I mean little!) legs off. See top picture.

Handy Horse....

Nelson took his 10 year old rider through the Handy Horse Competition today. They did a tarp walk over, a bridge, picked up a jug of water and many other things. This was a really great day for the confidence of both pony and girl!

Riding Club......

So we finally made it to a club day. Both ponies were great. This was Nelsons first ridden event ever. He was a bit figity but the 10 year old rode him around the big arena all by herself. He was a little tricky to steer but she got him going. They also played letter box drop, bending, flag and barrel and did some riding exercises. Even some jump poles!

His First Show........

Nelson went to his first show. He was very excited. He was introduced to miniature ponies *snort*, Bunting *snort* and a black line painted on the grass, this required a giant leap! He was very figity but did settle, I only put him in his 3yo class, which happened to be the biggest class all morning. Any other class and he would have got a ribbon. Not that that is the important thing...I just wanted to see what he thought of someone putting a ribbon around him. I did not stay for the part welsh class as there are only so many hours in a weekend. He handled everything really well.

Nelson takes the girls for a ride.........

Both girls have been out of the saddle for awhile. We lost a pony to colic, another was only on lease and another was 11.2 hh and the girls were too big on her already. That pony could not be taken off a lead or she would just stand at the gate. So it has been about a year since we have had ponies the girls could ride. We are back on track now. Nelson is great with the girls. Very careful, on the ride the biocycle pumped out and he did not put a foot wrong (see earlier blog). We did steering, halting and a bit of trotting. The look on his face is just priceless, a very relaxed chappy. He needs his topline built up a bit more and I think I am going to have to find another saddle, 16 1/2 " is still too big. Anyway I'll add that to the list.
